This is a taster course for the Spanish language as well as learning about the culture and traditions. Students learn simple sentences that enable them to communicate with native speakers. Throughout the course students will discover about festivals, traditional dishes, cities, landmarks – an insight into the country of Spain.
15 Week Beginners Course part 1 (September to January).
The topics covered in the first part are: greetings and introductions, nationalities (talking about where are you from), communication problems and pronunciation, jobs (saying what you do for a living), the family (talking about yourself and your family), shopping for food (buying food and shopping in the market and saying what you like and don’t like), the bar (ordering drinks and snacks) and numbers up to 1000.
15 Week Beginners Course part 2 (January to May).
The topics covered in the second part are: to say where do you live and where your hometown is, places in town and directions, the time (days of the week and opening times), travel (asking about public transport), the hotel (checking in at a hotel), the restaurant (reading the menu and ordering a meal in a restaurant) and numbers up to a 1000.
The book used for this course is BBC Talk Spanish 1 which is complemented with handouts that I provide throughout. During the course we work on the four skills needed to learn a language: reading, writing, listening and speaking. I believe that if a student is confident in class he or she will be more confident to try to speak Spanish wherever it is needed.
Cost: £120.00 (sorry no concessions).
If you are interested in one of my courses, come along for a trial session and if you like it, join us. You will only pay only for the remaining weeks.
